Earlier this month I escaped the weather with a few friends and took the short flight down to Barcelona for the weekend.

Somewhere I have visited before, but more than happy to go again as I really do love the feel of the city, especially when the sun is shining. We spent the holiday quite low key, with our days wandering the windy streets, stopping for treats, food and wine of course. We stayed in an apartment just of 'The Ramblas' so found it easy to get to everywhere we wanted, even if it was just a short taxi ride away.

The food was amazing, and the only problem, there was TOO much to choose from. Cafes litter the squares, with bakeries, coffee shops and boutique shops nestled cosily into the vast maze of little streets in the Gothic Quarter.

We spent a lot of time popping in and out of the Boqueria Market (full post to come) and walking and chatting through the beautiful streets. We attempted some sunbathing on the beach one day to recover from the previous night out, where we found ourselves dancing till 4am at Opium, but sadly the wind had other ideas, so we hung out in Carpe Diem, along the beach front drinking teas and taking full advantage of their lounging area. On my next visit I definitely plan to go for food, as it looked amazing.

As we all now live in different towns just getting a chance to all sit together and catch up with our busy lives is a mission in the first place. So popping open a cheap bottle of prosecco with some plastic cups in the park was pretty much the best way to start the holiday.

On our last day after meandering through the streets for a few hours we ended back in this little square where we had our first meal. We picked a different restaurant, sat outside in front of the most beautiful church (pictured above) ordered our last round of tapas, paella and plenty of wine and sat down to relax for the afternoon. 2 spanish guys, one with his banjo and the other with a cello set up and played for the crowds. We sat there singing away, taking it all in and enjoying the moment. When they put their hat away and came and sang with us directly it made the holiday :)
Thanks girls, I can't wait for the next one!
